第 3 章 论战争状态 　　 16 ．战争状态指的是一种敌对的和破坏的状态。所以凡用语言或行动表示对另一个人的生命有严肃的、确定的企图，并不是出自某一时的意气用事的时候，他就使自己与他对其宣告这种意图的人处于战争状态。在这种情况下，他就把生命置于那人或所有帮助和支持其斗争的人的权力之下，随时有丧失生命的危险。我享有毁灭那些威胁我的东西的正利，这本是合理和正当的。原因就在于依据根本的自然法。人应该尽量地保卫自己，如果不能保卫全体，则应该要先保卫无辜的人的安全。一个人可以消灭向他宣战或对他的生命怀有敌意的人…
