"Do You Know" about the infamous Kala Pani? 🧐

Also known as the Cellular Jail, this historic prison is located in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India. It was built by the British colonial government between 1896 and 1906.

Its unique structure originally featured 7 wings radiating from a central tower, resembling a fan. Each wing had 3 floors and over 693 individual cells, specifically designed for solitary confinement.

Many notable Indian freedom fighters were imprisoned here, including Veer Savarkar, Batukeshwar Dutt, and Yogendra Shukla.

The name "Kala Pani" translates to "Black Water," a stark reference to its remote location and the severe suffering endured by its prisoners.
