"Vi siete mai chiesti perché oggi si insegna sempre meno ai ragazzi a scrivere in corsivo? E no, non è un caso che si tenda ad usarlo sempre meno. Scrivere in corsivo vuol dire tradurre il pensiero in parole, ti obbliga a non staccare la mano dal foglio. Uno sforzo che stimola il pensiero, che ti permette di associare le idee, di legarle e metterle in relazione. Non a caso la parola corsivo deriva dal latino «currere», che corre, che scorre, perché il pensiero è alato, corre, s’invola. Naturale che il corsivo non abbia più posto nel mondo di oggi, un mondo che fa di tutto per rallentare lo sviluppo del pensiero, per azzopparlo. Pensate che il corsivo nacque proprio in Italia e poi si diffuse in tutto il mondo. Perché? Perché era una scrittura compatta, elegante, chiara. Ma la nostra è una società che non ha più tempo per l’eleganza, per la bellezza, per la complessità. Abbiamo sinteticità ma non chiarezza, rapidità ma non efficienza, informazioni ma non conoscenza!!! Sappiamo troppo e troppo poco perché non siamo più in grado di mettere in relazione le cose.
La gente non sa più PENSARE.
Per questo bisognerebbe tornare a scrivere in corsivo, soprattutto a scuola. Perché qua non si tratta soltanto di recuperare uno stile di scrittura ma di tornare a dare respiro ai nostri pensieri.
Tutto ciò che ci fa vivere, che nutre l'anima, che sostiene lo spirito è legato al respiro.
Senza respiro, dicevano gli antichi greci, non c’è pensiero. E senza pensieri non c’è vita. Se sia importante o no, lo lascio decidere a Voi...

"Have you ever wondered why today is being taught less and less to boys to write in italics? And no, it’s not by chance that we tend to use it less and less. Writing in italics means translating thought into words, it forces you not to take your hand off the paper. An effort that stimulates thought, that allows you to associate ideas, to bind them and put them in relation. It is not by chance that the word cursive comes from the Latin «currere», which runs, which flows, because the thought is winged, runs, takes off. It is natural that cursive has no place in today’s world, a world that does everything to slow the development of thought, to cripple it. Do you think that cursive was born in Italy and then spread all over the world. Why? Because it was a compact, elegant, clear writing. But ours is a society that no longer has time for elegance, for beauty, for complexity. We have brevity but not clarity, speed but not efficiency, information but not knowledge! We know too much and too little because we are no longer able to relate things.
People can’t THINK anymore.
For this we should return to writing in italics, especially at school. Because here it is not just a matter of recovering a style of writing but of returning to give breath to our thoughts.
Everything that makes us live, that nourishes the soul, that sustains the spirit is linked to the breath.
Without breath, the ancient Greeks said, there is no thought. And without thoughts there is no life. Whether it is important or not, I leave it to you to decide...
