🇷🇺🇧🇭 SPIEF 2025: Key Outcomes and New Horizons of Russia–Bahrain Partnership

On June 20, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin met with His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa — Representative of the King of Bahrain for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, National Security Advisor, and Commander of the Royal Guard.

The discussion addressed trade and economic cooperation, financial and investment collaboration, and cultural and humanitarian engagement. Vladimir Putin noted the positive trend in bilateral trade, the growing interaction between the two countries’ sovereign wealth funds, and the implementation of over 30 joint projects across various fields. Special attention was given to promising areas of partnership in business development, culture, and tourism.

An initiative to develop a logistics hub in Bahrain for distributing Russian wheat to Gulf countries was announced, opening new opportunities in the field of regional food security.

As part of Bahrain’s participation in SPIEF 2025, a solid package of agreements was signed, covering key areas of bilateral cooperation, including customs collaboration, tourism, exports, media, and other sectors.

Among the most notable cultural events at the forum was the opening of the exhibition “From the Heritage of Bahrain: The Art of Making Swords and Daggers” at the State Hermitage Museum. This exhibition highlighted the rich historical heritage of the Kingdom and the mutual interest in developing humanitarian ties.

In 2025, Russia and Bahrain mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Bahrain’s honorary status as a guest country at SPIEF reflected the high level of trust and political dialogue between Moscow and Manama. This year has been highlighted by a number of joint initiatives, reaffirming both sides’ commitment to steadily advancing bilateral cooperation.
