🔹 Long Live Peace
🖋 Abbas Akhoundi — June 23, 2025
1. Earlier this morning, the Islamic Republic of Iran—according to the announcement by the Honorable Foreign Minister—formally accepted the proposal put forth by United States President Donald Trump for a cessation of hostilities. Undoubtedly, Mr. Araghchi’s statement was issued in full coordination with senior leadership and thus reflects the official and unified position of the Islamic Republic.
2. There is no doubt that the ceasefire, achieved after twelve days of conflict, is the result of the steadfast resistance and the timely, effective, and strategically executed operations of Iran’s esteemed armed forces—despite the adversary’s possession of the most advanced weaponry and the full support of the United States. It is equally essential to acknowledge the profound national unity, the active and skillful diplomacy, and the diligent efforts of the government and all responsible institutions. Without these, neither Trump nor Netanyahu would have made such a proposal, nor would the latter have accepted it.
3. The current situation remains delicate and precarious. It is imperative that we now take the next step by formalizing this agreement into a legal ceasefire, and subsequently transforming it into a sustainable and enduring peace, whether through the auspices of the United Nations or by any other mechanism deemed appropriate and effective by the Iranian diplomatic apparatus.
4. With a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of cognitive warfare, it is incumbent upon us to embrace any initiative aimed at launching direct, inclusive, and substantive negotiations with the United States and other relevant international stakeholders, in pursuit of a just and lasting peace.
5. The recent conflict has resulted in considerable material losses. Yet, the most profound and irreparable loss has been the sacrifice of our martyrs—those cherished lives lost in defense of our nation. We must honor their memory with the utmost reverence. At the same time, it is worth noting that we inflicted substantial damage upon the enemy—an inevitable and rightful consequence for any aggressor.
6. It must be clearly stated that there are two principal forces opposed to the consolidation of peace and stability in the region: the Zionist regime of Israel and extremist Salafist groups. Any weakening of our current strategic position constitutes a direct threat to national interests and serves, whether knowingly or not, the agenda of Israel. We must, therefore, exercise utmost vigilance to ensure that we do not, even inadvertently, become instruments of Netanyahu and his criminal entourage.
